Beide Mercedes en Ferrari het verbeterde enjins gereed gehad vir naweek se aksie.  Dit was vroeg reeds duidelik dat Ferrari die oorhand het. Kwalifisering vind egter in nat omstandighede plaas, en Lewis Hamilton gebruik dit tot sy voordeel om die voorste wegspringposisie in te neem.

Baie spanne, insluitende Red Bull en Kimi Raikkonen se span, aanvaar dat as gevolg van die nat weer daar slegs een geleentheid gaan wees om ‘n goeie tyd op te stel. MotoGP: Britse Grand Prix – rondte 12 (26 Augustus 2018)

Jorge Lorenzo se Britse naweek begin waar hy in Oostenryk opgehou het – in die voorste posisie. Die afgelope paar jaar sukkel Lorenzo in nat omstandighede, maar hy bewys dis iets van die verlede deur die voorste wegspringposisie te behaal op sy Ducati. Spanmaat Andrea Dovizioso behaal die tweede vinnigste tyd. Nadat hy voor weggespring het in sy tuis Grand Prix en toe geval het, was Johann Zarco nie weer dieselfde nie. Op Silverstone begin hy na die ou Zarco lyk deur die derde vinnigste tyd in kwalifisering op te stel.

Ongelukkig is die res van die naweek ‘n ramp vir die organiseerders en toeskouers. Die baan se oppervlakte is oorgedoen sedert 2017. Dit blyk egter dat die nuwe teer se dreineringsvermoë nie op standaard is nie. Staande water op die baan maak dit uiters gevaarlik. Teen laat Sondagmiddag word die hele byeenkoms afgestel met geen wedrenne wat kon plaasvind nie.

Die volgende wedren is die Misano GP op 9 September 2018.
