Ferrari wys sy nuwe F8 Spider

 Sedert die bekendstelling van die 308 GTS in 1977 het Ferrari deurentyd ‘n V8-afslaankap in sy reeks gehad, en hierdie tradisie word voortgesit met die F8 Spider, wat pas bekendgestel is.

Die F8 Spider is die plaasvervanger vir die 488 Spider en is saam met die F8 Tributo ontwerp. Die verskil is egter dat die F8 Spider met ‘n harde afslaandak toegerus word. 

Die F8 Spider stel nuwe standaarde vir oopdak-sportmotors in die sin dat hy ‘n konbinasie van bruikbare werkverrigting en uitsonderlike hantering bied, en terselfdetyd uiters geskik vir alledaagse gebruik is. Die F8 Spider kombineer die karaktereienskappe van die mees bekroonde V8-enjin in die geskiedenis met ongeëwenaarde bestuursgenot.

Die F8  se enjin is die jongste weergawe van die een wat nuwe standaarde gestel het, nie net vir turbo-aangejaagde enjins nie maar vir alle tipes. Dit is ‘n ontwikkeling van die enjin wat vier agtereenvolgende die Internasionale Enjin van die Jaar-toekennings tussen 2016 en 2019 gewen het en as die beste enjin van die afgelope twintig jaar aangewys is; ‘n ongeëwenaarde prestasie in die geskiedenis van dié toekennings. Dié enjin, met ‘n verplasingsinhoud van 3,9 liter, lewer 530 kW teen 8 000 opm en wringkrag van 770 Nm teen 3 250 opm en word aan ‘n dubbel-koppelaar-Formule 1-ratkas met sewe gange gekoppel. Die F8 Spider kan binne 2,9 sekondes van 0 tot 100 km/h versnel en ‘n topsnelheid van 340 km/h behaal.

In die motorbedryf word Ferrari se V8-enjin bestempel as die toppunt van sportiewe karakter en bestuursgenot; dit is veral die geval in ‘n twee-sitplek motor met ‘n enjin wat in die middel gemonteer is.  Die F8 Spider se enjin spog met al die tipiese Ferrari-eienskappe soos ‘n gebrek aan turbo-traagheid en moeitelose versnelling, gekombineer met ‘n nuwe uitlaatstelsel wat vir ‘n kenmerkende enjinklank sorg.

Die enjin se krag is onmiddellik beskikbaar en dis maklik om die motor se volle potensiaal te benut as gevolg van die jongste weergawe van Ferrari se Dynamic Enhancer. Hierdie stelsel, wat sy debuut in die 488 Pista gemaak het, kan as ‘n gevorderde vastrap-beheerstelsel beskou word en verseker voorspelbare hantering teen hoë snelhede en die bestuurder kry toegang daartoe deur net ‘n knoppie te druk. Sodra die stelsel bespeur dat die motor gly, verseker die stelsel dat die bestuurder beheer behou en die wiele word in die regte rigting gestuur. Die enjin se toerebeperker se “Wall effect”-strategie is nog ‘n stap vorentoe in uiterste werkverrigting; pleks daarvan dat die enjin se toere geleidelik verminder word wanneer die perk bereik word, word die toere by die 8 000 opm-perk afgesny ; sodoende word die maksimum krag tydens dinamiese bestuurs-omstandighede gelewer en rondtetye word op hierdie manier verbeter.

Die F8 Spider spog ook met Ferrari se wisselende wringkrag-bestuur in alle ratte wat maak dat die wringkrag-kurwe te alle tye ‘n gevoel van konstante, gladde en kragtige versnelling tot by die maksimum toere lewer. Die F8 Spider lewer 10 Nm se wringkrag meer as sy voorganger. 

Die oogmerk van elke nuwe Ferrari is om te verseker dat die nuweling beter as sy voorganger is.  Die ingenieurs en ontwerpers word voortdurend uitgedaag om hul kreatiewe beperkinge te oortref en om nuwe tegnologiese standaarde te stel. Dit het hulle baie goed met die F8 Spider reggekry deurdat hy meer krag lewer en terselfdetyd 18 kg ligter as die 488 Spider is, en meer aërodinamies doeltreffend as sy voorganger is. 

Ferrari se ontwerp-sentrum was vir die F8 se stilering verantwoordelik, en bou voort op die F8 Tributo se ontwerprigting, wat ook in Ferrari se volgende modelreekse te sien sal wees. Wanneer ‘n afslaandak ontwerp word, is van die dak van kriteke belang in die algehele stilering. Ferrari het die laaste tyd ‘n harde afslaandak gebruik aangesien dit geriefliker as ‘n sagte dak is en die F8 Spider se stilering is rondom die intrekbare harde dak geskep. Die dak bestaan uit twee dele, dit word bokant die enjin gebêre wanneer dit afgeslaan is en kan binne 14 sekondes teen ‘n snelheid van tot 45 km/h oop- of toegemaak word. Die een uitstaande kenmerk is dat die skeidslyn tussen die bakwerk en die dak bokant die B-pilaar is, eerder as by die insittendes se skouerlyn.  Die buiteontwerp is geïnspireer deur die mees legendariese V8-middel-enjin modelle in Ferrari se geskiedenis. Gevolglik is dit ‘n motor met ‘n sterk persoonlikheid en ‘n sportiewe, aërodinamiese ontwerp.

Aan die voorkant is ‘n S-vormige luguitlaat in die stamper wat die omvattende aërodinamiese veranderinge wat aan die motor aangebring is, beklemtoon. Daar is ook nuwe, meer kompakte, ligdiode-kopligte.

Die agterste drukvlerk is herontwerp ; dit is nou groter en krul om die agterligte. Dit verlaag die motor se swaartepunt visueel en maak die terugkeer van die dubbele ronde agterligte, wat ‘n uitstaande stileringskenmerk van die 308 GTB en GTS was, moontlik. Die stertgedeelte in dieselfde kleur as die bakwerk is ook deur die 308-modelle geïnspireer. Die enjinkap is nog ‘n besondere kenmerk; dit het ‘n voorkoms wat aan dié van ‘n pylstertvis herinner en is geskep deur ‘n middelste ruggraat wat tussen die agterruit en die drukvlerk loop. Die twee agterste vlerke wat van die middel af na die kante toe loop, pas mooi by die bakwerk in en skep die indruk van visuele kontinuïteit vanuit alle hoeke. Daar is luguitlate onder die vlerke wat help om die enjin  te verkoel.

Die F8 behou die klassieke, bestuurders-georiënteerde stuurkajuit wat so kenmerkend van Ferrari se middel-enjin-berlinettas is. Al die kontroles is op die stuurwiel gemonteer en daar is nuwe sportsitplekke. Daar is ‘n groot instrumente-paneel met ‘n inligtingskerm en ‘n toereteller in die middel. Die boonste en onderste dele van die paneelbord word deur ‘n strook van koolvesel geskei. Daar is ook ‘n seweduim-raakskerm aan die passasierskant as ‘n opsie beskikbaar.

Ferrari roem hulle op hul naverkoopdiens en dit word ook weerspieël deur die onderhoudsplan wat sewe jaar lank geldig is.  Dit is vir al Ferrari se modelle beskikbaar en dek alle instandhouding vir die eerste sewe jaar van die voertuig se leeftyd. Dit is ‘n eksklusiewe diens wat daarop gemik is om te verseker dat elke Ferrari te alle tye sy volle werkverrigtings-potensiaal verwesenlik en dat die voertuig altyd veilig is. Dit is ook vir kopers van gebruikte Ferrari’s beskikbaar. Die voertuie word elke 20 000 km of een keer per jaar sonder ‘n beperking in kilometer-afstand versien deur personeel wat hul opleiding by Ferrari in Maranello ontvang het. Die mees moderne diagnostiese toerusting word hiervoor gebruik. Dit is beskikbaar by alle handelaars oor die hele wêreld. Die instand-houdings program verbeter naverkoopdiends en stel eienaars in staat om te verseker dat hul voertuie altyd in die beste moontlike werkverrigting lewer.
