Polo nr 5 is nou “Polo Vivo”

In 2010 het Volkswagen Suid-Afrika die legendariese Citi Golf vervang met die Polo Vivo, wat op sy beurt op die vierde geslag Polo gebaseeer was.

Sedertdien is 193 343 Polo Vivo eenhede verkoop en die afgelope sewe jaar was die Polo Vivo die topverkoper op die Suid-Afrikaanse mark. Met die bekendstelling van die sesde geslag Polo begin van 2018 het Volkswagen Suid-Afrika besluit om met die vyfde geslag Polo voort te gaan deur hom as die nuwe Polo Vivo te laat voortleef.  Die nuwe Vivo is egter nie net gemaak en laat staan nie: Dit neem die vyfde geslag Polo verder sodat die Vivo op sy eie bene as ‘n vernuwe model kan paradeer.

Die nuwe sesde geslag Polo en die Polo Vivo (Die vyfde geslag Polo) is die enigste modelle in die B-segment van die Suid-Afrikaanse motormark, wat plaaslik vervaardig word en die gewildheid van hierdie twee modelle is te danke aan bekostigbaarheid, bougehalte, veiligheid, ruimte en gemak. Dit is ook een van die goedkoopste motors om oor ‘n tydperk van drie jaar op die pad te hou.

Anders as die vorige Polo Vivo-reeks sal die nuwe model slegs as ‘n luikrug beskikbaar wees.  Die nuwe Vivo is in ‘n stilering- en tegniese opsig eintlik ‘n verdere ontwikkeling van die vyfde geslag Polo. Veral as mens die nuwe bestuurshulpmiddels, nuwe inligting-en-vermaakstelsels en die toevoeging van ‘n TSI-enjin tot die reeks, in aanmerking neem.

Die uitstaande kenmerk van die vooraansig van die nuwe Polo Vivo is die herontwerpte voorstamper  en groter onderste luguitlaat. Aan die agterkant is daar ‘n breër paneel vir die nommerplaat en die agterligte is herontwerp.  Die mees opvallende kenmerk wat die profiel van die motor betref, is nuwe wiele;  14 duim-staalwiele met wieldoppe vir die Trendline en Comfortline, opsionele allooiwiele van vyftien duim vir albei hierdie spesifikasievlakke, sestienduim-allooiwiele vir die Highline en sewentienduim-allooiwiele vir die GT.

Hoewel die instrumentepaneel nuut is, is dit só ontwerp dat dit Volkswagen se ontwerprigting weerspieël. Die inligting-en-vermaakstelsel is maklik om te gebruik en ideaal geplaas.  Die Highline en GT kry ses luidsprekers pleks van vier en ‘n raakskerm  wat toegang tot die bestuurder  se selfoontoepassings moontlik maak.

Die hele reeks word toegerus met ‘n agtersitplek wat in een stuk platvou en nie verdeel is nie. Met die sitplek regop kan die bagasiebak 280 liter pakplek verskaf en met die sitplek platgevou hou dit 952 liter.

Daar is vier enjins beskikbaar in die Polo Vivo-reeks. Die Trendline word toegerus met die intreemodel-weergawe van die 1,4 liter-viersilinderenjin. Hierdie enjin lewer 55 kW teen 4 800 opm en het ‘n wringkrag van 130 Nm teen 3 750 opm. Die gemiddelde brandstofverbruik van hierdie model is 5,7 liter per 100 km.

Die Comfortline is in twee weergawes beskikbaar. Die 1,4 handratmodel se enjin lewer 63 kW teen 5 000 opm en 132 Nm teen 3 750 opm. Die 1,6 liter-model se enjin lewer 77 kW en 153 Nm teen 3 800 opm. Hierdie model is net met ‘n Tiptronic-ratkas beskikbaar.  Die ander model met hierdie enjin, is die Highline, wat ‘n sesgang-handratkas as standaardtoerusting het.

Die groot nuus is egter die bekendstelling van die 1,0 TSI-enjin in die topmodel van die Vivo-reeks, die GT. Dié turbo-aangejaagde driesilinderenjin lewer 81 kW en 200 Nm teen 2 000 opm.  Ondanks die GT se hoë werkverrigting is sy gemiddelde brandstofverbruik slegs 4,6 liter per 100 km. Die Vivo GT kom slegs met ‘n sesgang-handratkas uit.

Die Trendline het die volgende kenmerke as standaardtoerusting:  driespeek-stuurwiel, radio met USB- SD-en Bluetooth-funksies, bekerhouers wat in die middelkonsole geïntegreer is, handverstelbare buitespieëls, elektriese vensters voor, lugversorging, kragstuur, volgrootte noodwiel, agterste ruitveër, verhitbare agterruit, ABS-remme, ISOFIX-hegpunte en lugsakke vir die bestuurder en voorste passasier.  Onder die opsionele ekstras wat vir hierdie model beskikbaar is, is spoedbeheer, voorste misligte en ‘n veiligheidspakket wat stabiliteitsbeheer en ‘n banddrukmonitor insluit.

Die Comfortline-modelle voeg die volgende kenmerke by: voorste misligte, buitespieëls en deurhandvatsels in dieselfde kleur as die bakwerk, ‘n veelfunksie-uitleespaneel, ‘n veelfunksiestuurwiel en ‘n hoogteverstelbare bestuurdersitplek .Bykomende opsionele ekstras vir die Comfortline sluit onder meer leerbekleedsel, ‘n voorste armrus tussen die sitplekke en ‘n laai onder die bestuurder vir los goedere, ‘n verwyderbare trekstang, en ‘n meer gesofistikeerde klankstelsel wat die bestuurder toegang tot selfoontoepassings gee, in.

Die Highline kry ook ‘n veelfunksiestuurwiel met aluminium-insetsels, sestienduim-allooiwiele en die veiligheidspakket wat opsioneel vir die ander modelle is.  Daarby het hy ook ‘n tydelike noodwiel pleks van die volgrootte noodwiel waarmee die res van die reeks toegerus is.

Die vlagskip van die reeks is die GT, wat voorste sportsitplekke, ‘n drukvlerk op die luikdeur, verlaagde vering, allooipedale, GT-kentekens op die rooster, ‘n sportiewe chroom-afgewerkte uitlaatpyp en spoedbeheer.

Die Polo Vivo sal in ses kleure beskikbaar wees, naamlik wit, rooi, pêrelswart, metaalblou, metaalsilwer en metaalgrys.

Die pryse van die Polo Vivo-reeks lyk soos volg:

1,4 Trendline: R 179 900

1,4 Comfortline: R 192 000

1,6 Comfortline Tiptronic: R 221 900

1,6 Highline: R 214 900

1,0 TSI GT: R 245 000

Die Polo Vivo word gerugsteun deur ‘n waarborg van drie jaar of 120 000 km en ‘n anti-korrosiewaarborg van ses jaar. Verskeie diens- of onderhoudsplanne is teen ekstra koste beskikbaar.
